Our history

The Department of ITSE was founded in 2012 to provide training for specialists in the specialty 6.050103 "Software Engineering" in the field of knowledge 0501 "Informatics and Computer Engineering" at the initiative of Academician Anatoly Morozov, Rector of the Institute of Mathematical Machines and Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In 2015, the Department of Information Technologies and Software Engineering becomes the basic department of IPMMS in relations of IPMMS with Ukrainian universities.

Among the 3 models of interaction with universities used in the Institutes of the Cybernetics Center of the NAS of Ukraine, a model was adopted in which the academic institute delegates its scientific and managerial staff to the university department, supports its activities in teaching and research, as well as in development areas. new types of systems and improvement of the educational base of the department.

To lead the Department of Information Technology and Software Engineering, ChNTU, the Institute delegated the head of the department, a full member of the Academy of Technological Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Laureate of State Prizes of the USSR and Ukraine in the category of science and technology and simulation - Litvinov Vitaly Vasilyevich.

Since then, the Department of Information Technology and Software Engineering has become the basic structure for the Chernihiv branch of the Academy of Technological Sciences of Ukraine.

A significant adjustment of the training strategy took place after visiting the universities of Quimbra (Portugal) and Oxford (UK) in 2015 and conducting a thorough analysis of the development of Western universities. Employees of the Department of ITSE ChNTU have developed concepts and main directions of development of the department,and set out in the monograph «Tool-Based Support of University-Industry Cooperation in IT-Engineering», which is based on the cultivation of teams of developers capable of teamwork within the university. To this end, the department has made efforts to provide students with an appropriate development field.

One of the first successful results of the implementation of such a strategy was the development of the student team of the department of two projects for the administration of Nizhyn (2017) .

The cooperation of scientific developments of the department of ITSE and IPMMS also made it possible to at least partially realize the goal of growing a team of developers.

Thus, in 2016-2019, teachers and students of ITIPI performed a number of works:

  • in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the projects "Bell" and "Basis-Science";
  • development of the draft Terms of Reference for the Security Center of the Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine;
  • performance of works on protection of situational centers from computer attacks, etc.

Significant influence on the development of the department has been participated since 2017 in the joint international project CyRADARS (Cyber Rapid Analysis for Defense Awareness of Real-time Situation) under the NATO program with organizations in Bulgaria and the United States. This project allowed to significantly upgrade the park of computer and telecommunication equipment of the department and to create three laboratories dealing with the problems of protection of computer networks. On the basis of these laboratories the Regional educational center of information protection is created. The establishment of the center facilitated the involvement of the Research and Testing Center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (Chernihiv) in cooperation on information protection.

The modern department of ITIPI is an active educational and scientific subdivision of the university, which provides training of highly qualified, competitive specialists who :

  • have extensive fundamental knowledge and a set of theoretical and practical skills in the specialty;
  • understand the main trends in the development of software technologies for systems and complexes;
  • initiative, able to work in a team at the international level;
  • motivated to further study and research.

We are always happy for new ideas and cooperation!
